Are you thinking about getting dental implants? These state-of-the-art tooth replacements require a bit of planning and time to “take” after they’re installed. The good news is they’re extremely predictable and more comfortable to get than most people realize.
Here’s what you can expect if you’re considering replacing your teeth with implants:
- Consultation
- Your initial exam will include a series of X-rays and oral evaluation to determine if you qualify for implant therapy. At this visit, you’ll discuss your goals for future tooth replacement and the type of restoration best for your mouth. Then we’ll work up a detailed care plan including itemized pricing and estimated insurance coverage, as well as financing options.
- Installation
- Placing dental implants is usually performed with a small amount of local anesthetic. It’s a relatively minimally-invasive procedure! Complex oral reconstruction may be completed with sedation for improved comfort.
- Recovery
- You can expect very little discomfort after your dental implants are installed. However, you will need to wait at least a few months or more for the implants to integrate with the bone that’s around them. Once they’re fully integrated, they can support more weight than a natural tooth. And don’t worry, we can provide you with a temporary restoration to wear in the meantime.
- Final Restoration
- After your implants are fully integrated, we will remove the temporary restoration, uncover the implant, and install a permanent restoration (like a crown, bridge, or All-on-4 appliance).
