Once you get teeth pulled in Atlanta, or as you age, your bone gradually deteriorates. As a result, your denture, which was very snug to begin with, gets looser and doesn’t fit as well. Luckily there are some things that you can do to improve the fit of your appliance.
Denture Adhesive
Over-the-counter denture adhesive can be very effective for prosthetics that wobble a little. There are many types of adhesives available and the one that works best for you may be a personal preference. You may like the paste that’s been around since the beginning of time, or an adhesive powder may be your forte’, because it causes less of a mess. If you’re always on the go and need a product that you can take with you, then preloaded denture adhesive strips may be your favorite.
Denture Reline
Eventually, your denture will be so loose that it falls out of your mouth, and/or your gums get ulcerated from the constant moving of the appliance. A denture reline can give you a plate that fits like new without the price tag that goes along with a new appliance.
While there are reline kits available over the counter, if not done properly, you can ruin your denture; we recommend that you visit a professional for this treatment. The process involves filling the inside of your denture with soft acrylic and placing the appliance in your mouth for a few minutes. Once the acrylic hardens, we’ll smooth up all the edges and the fit of your denture will be as good as new.
