lower teeth denture

Dentures can become damaged for all sorts of reasons, and any damage can cause uncomfortable and/or embarrassing side-effects. While dentures are made from high quality materials, they are never going to be as strong and durable as the natural teeth. Over time, dentures will begin to degrade simply because of their nature; they are also susceptible to cracking or breaking; and dentures do not change and fluctuate to the natural chances of the face.

Dentures can become damaged in many different ways, some more simple and others more complex. Dentures can become cracked or chipped by biting down on something too hard like a piece of candy or ice. These small damages are typically easy to repair by simply replacing a single tooth in the dentures. However, other damages can cause more significant repair work to be required.

Cracked dentures at the base of the denture can make chewing and eating difficult or next to impossible. It is never advised to wear dentures that are an improper fit because of the damage that they can do to you gum tissues. If your dentures have been cracked at the base or are suddenly uncomfortable to wear, it is important that you have them evaluated as soon as possible.

A common and unfortunate cause of damage to dentures is dropping them on a hard counter or knocking them onto the floor. This type of damage cannot typically be repaired easily, and it often requires the fabrication of new dentures. Placing a towel down before you handle your dentures is always recommended for this specific reason – it can act as a buffer should you drop your dentures, helping to prevent breaking.

The office is very friendly and very professional. My dentist is Dr. Doug Yoon and on my very first visit he introduced me to the entire staff that would be assisting with my care, which made me feel confident that I had chosen the right practice. It has only gone uphill from there. I love that place!!
