Senior couple with perfect smiles.

Dentures offer patients a method of replacing their missing teeth with an affordable solution. Dentures have been around for hundreds of years, and thanks to modern dentistry they can provide support for the facial structure, give people an attractive smile, and allow them to eat many foods they cannot eat with missing teeth. Yet, dentures are not for everyone, and both the positives and negatives should be evaluated before making the decision to invest in this method of tooth replacement. At Georgia Dentures & Implant Specialists we believe that it is important for all of our patients to weigh their options concerning teeth replacement. Only you know how you feel about your missing teeth, therefore, you need to know your options before deciding.

Pros

  • For the most part, dentures function like normal teeth do. They can help improve nutrition intake by allowing people to eat a variety of foods that they were not able to eat with missing teeth.
  • Dentures are easy to take care of. Dentures must be brushed twice a day, and they need to be removed at night so that the gum tissues within the mouth can rest and the dentures can soak.
  • Dentures offer a complete smile. Whether a patient needs complete dentures or partial dentures, using the prosthetic allows for people to have a complete smile. Because dentistry has come so far, dentures look much more natural than they used to.
  • Dentures are a relatively affordable option. Compared to other tooth replacement options, dentures are affordable. And they typically last five-ten years, so people get their monies out of their investment.

Cons

  • Denture wearers cannot eat everything. While they are made to function like normal teeth, they will not perform as well as normal teeth. There will still be some limitations with eating sticky, hard foods.
  • Fear of embarrassment. Many people fear that their dentures will fall out at an embarrassing time. While it is true that dentures can slip out of place, dentures that fit properly should not fall out. With proper care and maintenance, this can be avoided.

The office is very friendly and very professional. My dentist is Dr. Doug Yoon and on my very first visit he introduced me to the entire staff that would be assisting with my care, which made me feel confident that I had chosen the right practice. It has only gone uphill from there. I love that place!!
