If you were recently told you needed to have a tooth removed, or are considering having teeth “pulled”, you may need to consider a few things before having the tooth extracted.
When a tooth is removed it leaves a space behind. In turn, gum recession and bone loss can occur at that location. The surrounding teeth will also want to “drift” into that space if left alone for a long period of time. In order to avoid these situations, it would be best to discuss your options with us at Georgia Denture & Implant Specialists beforehand.
What Are My Options?
Dental implants are the best option for replacing missing teeth. A titanium restoration with a ribbed surface is placed into the bone where the root of your tooth used to stand. After a few months of integration, a crown is secured on top of the implant, which mimics an anatomical tooth. Implants are durable and can last for a very long time if maintained properly. Implants are also custom-made to closely resemble your natural teeth, giving you a natural, youthful smile.
Dentures are also an option for replacing missing teeth. Depending on how many teeth need to be removed, partial or full dentures can be designed.
Implant-supported dentures are also something to consider if you are looking for extra support for your dentures. These can be snapped on and off of the implant posts whenever necessary.
