The following represent various treatment options available at Georgia Denture & Implant Specialists:

1. Complete Dentures or Full Dentures – complete dentures or full dentures are indicated when the full arch of teeth, on the upper or lower jaw, are missing. These dentures may be immediate or conventional. Patients with existing dentures may expect their new, conventional denture to be fabricated over a four or five appointment treatment period. Patients needing to have teeth removed to accommodate a complete denture, will have immediate dentures created in advance to be used as soon as the teeth are extracted. The gums are then allowed to heal for 9 to 12 months, before denture treatment is completed. The dentures are constructed of high quality resin, made to look like natural gum tissue with attached teeth, and rest on the gums that cover the jawbones. The stability and retention of these dentures can be improved by attaching them to dental implants.

2. Partial Dentures – partial dentures are an option when some natural teeth remain. They address the space left by missing teeth and prevent the surrounding teeth from shifting. With partial dentures, a gum colored base holds the replacement teeth and is connected by a metal framework. The partial denture may also rest on the gum line. Partial dentures attach to the teeth that are still present using either precision attachments (which may require crowns on surrounding, natural teeth) or metal clasps.

3. Dental Implants – dental implants are titanium screws attached permanently to the jawbone of the patient, which are then topped with a crown or attachment. They are used to replace either a single tooth or multiple missing teeth and may also be used to stabilize complete or partial dentures. As implants are secured permanently into the jaw, they are the most helpful in keeping the gum tissue and bone from shrinking. This is very effective in preserving the patient’s looks.
