One of the biggest misconceptions about dental implant treatment is that you need a one-to-one ratio of implants to the number of missing teeth there are.
Surprisingly, that’s not true.
Since dental implants are incredibly strong, we can actually use them in pairs to anchor multi-tooth restorations.
For example, if you have 3-4 missing teeth in one area of your mouth and have been wearing a partial denture, we can install two implants (one on either side of the space) and then affix a fixed bridge on top of them. You’re replacing several teeth, but only two implants were required.
Or if you need to replace all of your upper teeth at once, you might opt for a hybrid device (commonly referred to as “All-on-4”). This treatment approach uses 4-6 dental implants placed at strategic points in your jawline. Once integrated, we attach the hybrid prosthesis on top of your implants, restoring 14 teeth at once. That’s potentially one implant for every 3.5 teeth.
Incorporating implant-supported bridges and hybrid appliances allows you to minimize the amount of treatment you need. It also assures the best return on investment when it comes to your future smile.
