Implant Bridges vs. All-on-4 Implants: Which is Best for You?
April 20, 2022
When you’re looking into replacing missing teeth you’ll likely have several options to choose from. Two of the most popular solutions are implants bridges, and all-on-4 implants from our Woodstock, Georgia dental practice.
What Is An Implant Bridge?
To restore a row of missing teeth, we’ll surgically place a two or more implants in that space. Then we’ll attach a bridge on top of the implants. A bridge is a connection of lab fabricated crowns, with some attached to the implants while the others float over the gum tissues.
What Are All-on-4 Implants?
All-on-4 uses a minimum of four implants (sometimes six) placed at key points throughout the arch. We then create an acrylic appliance that looks like a cross between a bridge and a denture. The appliance only fills in the area of your missing teeth, rather than the roof of your mouth like a traditional denture. And just like bridges, it is non-removable.
Implants Bridge vs. All-on-4 Implants?
Here are some of the most important comparisons between bridges and implants to help you decide which one is best for your situation:
- Both options are fixed and permanent, meaning that you don’t have to remove them.
- Both treatments require daily flossing to protect the implants supporting them.
- Implant bridges look and feel more natural than All-on-4 implants, but All-on-4 still feels more comfortable than traditional dentures.
- All-on-4 implants are more affordable than a full arch consisting of multiple implant bridges.
