Overdentures and traditional dentures allow you to address the issue of missing all of your teeth. Traditional Dentures
Traditional dentures are custom made “plates” used to replace all of the teeth in your upper or lower arch at one time. They are worn during the day and use the gummy, bony ridge of your jaw as their anchor. A denture adhesive can be used as well for added support. Once made and seated, it can take one or two appointments to have the dentures adjusted to the most comfortable fit. Traditional dentures are removable.
Overdentures
Overdentures are also an option for missing teeth, but these dentures are secured by 2-4 dental implants during the day. The implants provide added support, instead of needing a denture adhesive or paste. Overdentures snap onto the implants for increased comfort and stability, making them ideal for anyone with extensive bone loss (where wearing a traditional denture may be more difficult).
In some situations, traditional dentures can be retrofitted into an implant-stabilized overdenture.
